What fitment to confirm before you commit
Before you buy, confirm where both cameras will mount in your vehicle. This set includes a front and a rear camera, and VIOFO describes both housings as compact for flexible positioning.
What isn't provided is a vehicle compatibility list or a required clearance figure. We'd consider a dry fit against your windshield and rear glass the deciding step, since a lens that sits off level or behind tinted glass changes the footage you actually get.

What this dash cam does and does not do
This is a recording device. It captures 2K front and rear footage through two Sony STARVIS 2 IMX675 sensors, with HDR on both channels, 12 voice commands and a Quad-Mode GPS module that logs location, speed and time for playback in the VIOFO App or on a computer.
It does not read fault codes or diagnose vehicle systems, so don't buy it expecting mechanical answers. One tradeoff worth knowing: with HDR enabled, the front camera's 1440P at 60fps is not available.
Diagnostic boundary this device records and logs video, it does not scan or diagnose vehicle systems.

At $169.98, this dual-channel kit sits $17.72 under the typical price over the last 90 days of $187.70, which is 9 percent off.
That comparison is against the recent typical, not a former shelf price. The current offer is simply lower than what this camera has usually cost.
Power and connection checks before you mount it
Nothing stores footage out of the box. You'll need to buy a microSD card separately, and VIOFO points to its industrial high endurance cards in 128GB, 256GB or 512GB.
For 24-hour parking mode, the HK4 hardwire cable is a separate purchase. Those three parking modes, including the buffered event recording and the time lapse option, depend on that cable being wired in.
The camera talks to the VIOFO App over 5GHz Wi-Fi for previews, downloads and setting changes.
Who should choose this dash cam
Pick the A229 Plus if you want front and rear 2K coverage, dual STARVIS 2 sensors with HDR on both lenses, and you accept adding a microSD card plus the HK4 cable for parked recording.
Skip it if you want a single-camera setup with no rear run, or if you need a fault-code tool rather than a recorder.
Your last check is finding a clean, level spot for both lenses and having a card ready before the kit arrives.
