Which trucks and engines the HD500 actually covers
The HD500 addresses diesel rigs running Cummins, CAT, Detroit, Paccar, International or Hino engines. It ships with a set of diagnostic adapters, including 6-pin and 9-pin plugs plus CAT-specific and 16-pin connectors, so most common truck ports have a match in the box.
Our advice is to verify your engine and any vehicle-specific limitations before purchase. It also reaches pickup trucks, light trucks, buses, trailers, tractors, construction vehicles and agricultural vehicles, and it speaks common heavy-duty and OBD protocols including J1939 and J1708. If your truck uses a factory custom protocol, you enter the diagnostic menu and select the engine so live data reads accurately.

What it will not do
This scanner reads and clears codes, shows live data and performs full HD OBD, EOBD and OBD2 service modes across engine, ABS, SRS, EPB, Park Brake Controller and DPF systems. It runs DPF regeneration, reset and status controls to help you avoid replacement costs, though Isuzu vehicles are excluded from those DPF functions. It also performs cylinder cut-off testing to isolate a weak injector and bleeds the ABS module to restore a firm pedal.
DPF regen, reset and status control are not supported on Isuzu vehicles.
No bidirectional control or VGT calibration on this model.
Allison transmissions are not supported and are being developed.

Adapters, power and connection checks
The box includes the common diagnostic adapters, so the main installation question is whether your truck uses a 6-pin, 9-pin, CAT-9 or CAT-14 port. Match that port to the supplied cable before you attempt a scan.
Because the HD500 runs on the vehicle bus, confirm your battery is healthy enough for a full diagnostic session, especially before starting a DPF regen. If your truck follows a custom fault protocol, plan to select the correct engine from the diagnostic menu so the data reads properly.
Who should choose the FOXWELL HD500
This scanner suits fleet mechanics and diesel owners who work on Cummins, CAT, Detroit, Paccar, International or Hino engines and want DPF, cylinder cut-off and ABS functions without paying dealer diagnostic rates. It also works for buses, trailers, tractors and construction equipment within the supported protocol list.
Skip it if you need bidirectional commands, VGT calibration, Allison transmission support or DPF work on an Isuzu. Check your VIN and engine before buying, because coverage varies by vehicle condition and configuration.
