Hyundai unveiled the all-new 2027 Tucson in New York, calling it the boldest SUV it has built and pairing a next-generation hybrid with a new infotainment system. The debut covers the standard model and a rugged TUCSON XRT PRO variant (opens in a new tab).
The hybrid is tuned for what Hyundai describes as intelligent efficiency, with a target of up to 42 mpg. The XRT PRO adds Smart Terrain Assist, which Hyundai says is its first use of the system, along with other off-road technologies.
Inside, the Tucson moves to Pleos Connect, an infotainment setup built around Gleo AI, an app marketplace and a redesigned interface. Hyundai says the cabin adds a 9.9-inch slim display above the steering column, tactile buttons for climate and audio, available dual 15W wireless charging pads and an available Ergo Motion Seat with a seven-cell pneumatic massage system.
The body grows to 4,700 mm long, 1,905 mm wide and 1,685 mm tall on the long wheelbase model, gains of 60 mm, 40 mm and 20 mm versus the previous generation. Door opening angles widen from 73 to 83 degrees. Available Micro Pixel Lighting uses 25,600 individual LED pixels for beam patterns and welcome animations, while LED taillamps are standard across the lineup.
Hyundai's broader vehicle plans
The company says the Tucson opens a product offensive that includes more than 100 new and refreshed vehicles globally by 2030, 58 of them in North America.
"Millions of families around the world count on the Hyundai TUCSON, and this is the best one we have ever built," said José Muñoz, President and CEO, Hyundai Motor Company.
If you are shopping this segment now, the hybrid fuel economy target and the XRT PRO trim are the two items worth waiting on pricing for before you commit to a current Tucson.
