Which systems and resets your car supports

The NT716 is a bidirectional tablet scanner covering four systems: engine, transmission, ABS and airbag. It reads and clears codes across those systems, graphs live data and stores freeze-frame snapshots.

Before you buy, we'd consider one thing first: diagnostic and special-function coverage shifts by vehicle model. A reset that exists for one car may not appear for another, so confirm the exact functions you need against your make, model and year.

Nine maintenance resets are included, spanning ABS bleeding, steering angle, oil light, parking brake, battery registration, DPF, throttle relearn, injector coding and TPMS. Support runs to more than 100 car brands from 1996 to 2026, so older and newer models are both in scope.

What it will not do

Bidirectional control on this unit lets you command active tests on parts such as fuel pumps, cooling fans and window regulators. That is a diagnostic aid, not a repair, and it does not establish that any vehicle is safe to drive.

Two supported limits matter. The manufacturer notes the packaging still lists support only through 2020 to 2021, which it says does not reflect actual functionality. Key programming is not supported at all.

What it will not do

Active tests require a free Wi-Fi upgrade before they unlock, and key programming is not supported.

Set up and connection checks

The tool runs Android 9.0 on a 5.5 inch HD touchscreen with a 4000mAh battery. It connects over the OBD2 port, and AutoVIN reads vehicle information automatically once linked.

Confirm two practical points before ordering. Check your OBD2 port location and clearance, since the connector needs room to seat. Note too that active tests require a free Wi-Fi upgrade, so plan for a network connection during setup.

Who should choose this scanner

This suits a home mechanic or shop tech who wants four-system code reading plus nine maintenance resets in one tablet, without paying for a pro-level tool.

Skip it if you need key programming, or if you cannot verify that your specific make, model and year supports the resets and active tests you plan to run. The 24-language interface and 1-year warranty round out the package.

Last check: verify your vehicle's OBD2 port location and clearance before checkout, then confirm the exact reset functions your model supports.
