BMW introduced the electric BMW iX4 SUV coupe today, scheduling the BMW iX4 50 xDrive for March 2027 with DC fast charging rated at 400 kW (opens in a new tab). For shoppers comparing driving distance and charging stops, BMW gives that model a preliminary range estimate of up to 428 miles and says a 10-minute charge can add up to 184 miles.

BMW plans to follow it with the BMW iX4 M60 xDrive later in 2027, with maximum output rated at 603 hp and torque at 645 lb-ft. BMW estimates that version will reach 60 mph from rest in 3.7 seconds. Both versions use two electric motors, with one driving each axle.

What equipment comes with it

The BMW iX4 includes the M Sport package as standard, bringing 20-inch M light-alloy wheels and exterior details specific to the model. Its standard panoramic sunroof spans the roof's length and uses climate comfort glazing. The BMW iX4 M60 xDrive will instead have standard 21-inch light-alloy wheels, plus M Sport brakes whose calipers are painted red.

BMW Panoramic iDrive uses Operating System X, pairing BMW Panoramic Vision with a Central Display measuring 17.9 inches and an optional BMW 3D Head-Up Display. Its voice assistant incorporates Amazon Alexa+ AI technology. BMW also lists bidirectional charging and an available highway driving feature that allows attentive hands-free operation at speeds up to 85 mph.
