VinFast has begun U.S. sales for its 2027 VF 8 electric SUV, according to its Sept. 21, 2026 announcement (opens in a new tab). The company says dealership displays and purchases will begin in September 2026.
VinFast names Chicago, Orlando and San Diego among the markets where authorized dealers will offer the SUV. Starting prices are $40,400 for ECO and $45,600 for PLUS. The company says it will continue offering financing at 0% APR for terms reaching 84 months, plus leases.
What the driver-assistance upgrades do
VinFast says the added driver-assistance features include Automatic Emergency Stop Assist, intended to bring the SUV to a stop without leaving its lane when a driver becomes unresponsive. Once stopped, the company says, it activates hazard lights, engages the Electronic Parking Brake, releases the door locks and initiates an eCall.
VinFast also says Rear Automatic Emergency Braking can stop the SUV during reversing when it detects an impending impact with a pedestrian or obstacle. Its Intersection Assist issues audible and visual alerts when it detects a high collision risk involving approaching traffic or vulnerable road users as the driver enters an intersection or turns either way.
How to check costs and get one
VinFast has also put an Energy Cost Savings Calculator on its official website. It estimates running costs against gasoline vehicles using a driver's own habits and local energy rates.
VinFast belongs to Vingroup JSC and is listed on NASDAQ as VFS.
