Ford is recalling certain 2026 Ranger vehicles built with the 10.1-inch center stack screen because that screen may lose power and stop showing the rearview camera image (opens in a new tab). The recall covers a potentially affected population of 11,405 vehicles.
Because the camera image can go dark, the driver's view behind the truck is reduced, which raises the risk of a crash. The condition means these vehicles do not meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 111, "Rear Visibility".
Ford is still developing a remedy. NHTSA.gov began allowing searches for the affected VINs on September 25, 2026.
What owners should do
Ford expects to mail interim letters telling owners about the safety risk on October 5, 2026. A second mailing will go out once the remedy is ready.
