Which Tesla drivers qualify
- Applies to
- Tesla vehicles with HW3
- Requires
- FSD (Supervised) v14 Lite
- Savings
- 30% on miles driven with FSD engaged
- Markets
- Arizona, Tennessee and Colorado
Lemonade expanded its Autonomous Car insurance today to cover Tesla vehicles with HW3 running FSD (Supervised) v14 Lite, giving eligible owners another insurance pricing option (opens in a new tab). In Arizona, Tennessee and Colorado, those drivers can receive a 30% discount for mileage accumulated while FSD is engaged, rather than a discount covering every mile they drive. The existing 50% savings for FSD-engaged mileage remains available to Tesla drivers using HW4 with FSD v14.2 or newer.
FSD Lite adapts Tesla's v14 software for HW3, the company's earlier onboard computer generation. Tesla says the adaptation brings v14 driving behavior to AI3's camera and configuration, improving proactive and reactive responses in challenging driving situations. Full Self-Driving (Supervised) still needs the driver's active supervision and does not turn the car into an autonomous vehicle.
How to enroll
Tesla owners in the three eligible states can enroll online for Autonomous Car pricing through Lemonade. With customer permission, Lemonade accesses vehicle information through Tesla's Fleet API to identify mileage driven with FSD (Supervised) engaged separately from mileage driven by a human, then applies pricing to each.
Owners can obtain additional savings by bundling the car policy with Lemonade Home, Pet or Renters insurance. Shai Wininger, Lemonade's President and Co-Founder, says support will expand beyond the initial three states soon.
