MINI introduced the MINI Countryman Untamed Edition today, adding equipment aimed at travel off paved roads, including Pirelli Scorpion All Terrain Plus tires that are standard in North America (opens in a new tab). A 15-millimeter suspension lift and the edition's wheel-and-tire setup together raise ground clearance by up to 19 millimeters, with the increase varying by market and powertrain.
For US buyers, the edition includes a factory-installed trailer hitch as standard, with towing capacity capped at 3,500 pounds. The roof can carry up to 165 pounds while the vehicle is moving, rising to up to 661 pounds when it is stationary. MINI has also adjusted ABS, DSC and steering calibration for the changed suspension and all-terrain tires.
How equipment varies by market
The suspension lift will be available across every Untamed Edition variant in the United States and Canada, while European availability will be restricted to electric versions. European buyers can choose the all-terrain tires as an option, and buyers in other regions can specify them through aftersales. The North American standard tire package uses edition-specific 19-inch wheels.
Launch variants will differ by market, with the planned lineup spanning combustion-powered models and the electric MINI Countryman SE ALL4 and MINI Countryman E. Outdoor accessories include a separately available roof tent developed with AUTOHOME, which MINI says opens in seconds using gas struts. The HELINOX camping collection includes folding chairs and tables. MINI also says textured film on body panels helps protect against stone chips.
