Ford's recall concerns certain Bronco vehicles from model year 2026 whose right-side curtain air bag mounting bracket may have a metal burr. That burr could tear the bag during deployment (opens in a new tab). NHTSA lists 2,711 potentially affected vehicles under campaign 26V580000; Ford identifies the recall as 26S64. The report reached NHTSA on September 9, 2026.
A tear could prevent the bag from restraining an occupant properly during a crash, raising injury risk. NHTSA's record marks both the fire-risk park-outside flag and the do-not-drive flag as “No.”
What owners should do
Dealers will widen the gap between the bracket and the air bag, and the repair is free of charge. Ford expects to mail interim owner letters on September 15, 2026, with a second letter to follow once the remedy is available, anticipated in October 2026. Owners can call Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332.
NHTSA says VIN lookup for this recall became available through its website on September 10, 2026.
